Fulfilling a decades-long dream to become a psychotherapist, I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, with a transpersonal emphasis, from John F. Kennedy University. I did my clinical training at a community clinic in the East Bay which afforded me the opportunity to work with a diverse, multi-cultural population. Bringing rich life experience to this new career, I draw from the challenges and transitions I have worked through as mother, lover, care-giver, artist, social activist, grief counselor and business owner.

I ground my work in the understanding that my job as therapist is to create a safe and secure “container” for you, my client. This allows you to work into and through the internal places that are causing the pain, anxiety and confusion that prevent you from being able to accept and love yourself as you are—a unique and irreplaceable child of the universe, a non-separate wholeness. I embrace a relational, client-centered, mindfulness model of psychotherapy. My style is heartfelt, open, attentive and accepting. I bring empathy, passion, curiosity and intuition to the sessions, along with the clear intention of affording you whatever space and time you need to move at your own pace.

Embracing the concept that each of us can be understood as a hologram of the universe, I take a holistic approach and find it important to include mind, emotions, body and spirit in the work. To that end, we may incorporate one or more of these into your therapeutic journey:

  • guided imagery
  • journaling
  • drawing
  • meditation
  • cognitive exercises

My work is informed by and takes direction from these theories and philosophies:

  • Non-dual Psychotherapy
  • Eastern spiritual wisdom
  • Indigenous, nature-based shamanic wisdom
  • Integral Theory
  • Psychodynamic Theory
  • Existential-Humanistic Psychotherapy
  • Expressive Arts Therapy

I work with adolescents, adults, couples and families and have affinity and experience with:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Grief and loss issues
  • Abuse and incest
  • Life transitions
  • Addiction and addiction recovery
  • Codependency
  • Couples communication
