Hi, I'm Lauren
I’m glad you’re here!
My approach
I believe people thrive when feeling safe and connected to themselves and to others. This means that as a therapist, I am:
affirming and non-pathologizing (I ask “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?”)
committed to prioritizing safety and choice from a trauma-informed lens
warm, empathetic, relational and collaborative
We don’t just talk! I integrate attachment theory, parts work, and somatics, so our sessions can include a variety of practical and experiential approaches. I help hold the container so that we can weave these new tools into a deepening understanding of who you’ve been, and who you are becoming.
I am also interested in how you are impacted by broader social and ecological systems. I am bilingual in Spanish, culturally-affirming, and am committed to continued un-learning of the colonial conditioning that has created the macrosystems that we are all a part of.
Specialties and areas of focus
I work with adults, kids, teens and relationships of all kinds!
Some of the areas I specialize in are:
Emotions that are "too big"
Perfectionism and people-pleasing
Shame
Anxiety
Depression
Intergenerational trauma
Loneliness and a sense of not-belonging
About Me
I previously spent the better part of a decade bringing trauma-informed mindful movement to studios, K-12 schools, rehab centers, and more, which helped me to learn about how the body informs everything the brain does. Before that I worked as a bilingual volunteer coordinator in a local community health clinic and with families impacted by chronic illness. As an able-bodied woman of European descent who has often worked with and in communities of color, I am dedicated to always reflecting on the lens I bring to the work I do.
